Hello my name is Ananda. I am an American citizen currently residing in India. I am a CELTA certified teacher and have been teaching English full time for almost 4 years, with over 1500 hours of teaching experience. I have extensive experience teaching adults ranging from an elementary level, all the way through to an upper intermediate level. I also have considerable experience teaching young learners ranging from the ages of 14 to 18. I am also a professional musician, music producer and audio engineer. I have been playing music professionally from the age of 16 and was the lead singer, guitar player and songwriter for the band The Supersonics, one of India's leading English rock and roll bands, and I have released two albums with the band under major labels (available on Apple Music and Spotify) and will be releasing my solo album in August 2022. I teach music as well with over 15 years of experience teaching guitar and I have a diploma in audio engineering from SAE Glasgow in the United Kingdom. I am fluent in English, Bengali and Hindi. My teaching methodology is learner centred. For General English lessons, I believe in providing learners the opportunity to learn through discovery and help them focus on creating, thinking and problem solving. In language learning this translates to helping learners acquire language through simulations of real life experience. I also teach English for specific purposes such as English Language test preparation, development of speaking skills and fluency and academic writing. I start my courses by carrying out a needs analysis for my students so I can help them achieve their personal goals as well as identify the areas where the learner needs help. I also conduct a diagnostic language test to keep a record of the level at which the learner started, so as to inform my future planning and realistic, time bound learning outcomes. My processes are fine tuned to specific learner needs and varies from learner to learner. This means, I focus on what each individual learner will need to improve their language, instead of applying a general method for all learners.
