Hi there, I'm James Nyaga! A linguist, English teacher and Trinity examiner with extensive experience studying in different international universities such as Consolata Institute of Philosophy in Nairobi (bachelor in Philosophy), Urbaniana Pontifical university in Rome (bachelor in Theology), Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid (licentiate in Theology and master’s in Bioethics), London Teacher Training College (Diploma in TESOL) and University of Leicester (Master’s in Applied Linguistics and TESOL). Additionally, I have accreditation for teaching Advanced English Curriculum (literature) in secondary schools (ESO-obligatory secondary education) and Bachillerato (Spanish baccalaureate) awarded by the Madrid Community Ministry of Education.
EXPERIENCE
Having spent several years in Italy, I moved to Spain in 2008 and currently live in Madrid. I have worked as an English teacher for a number of language schools and companies as well as a freelancer. Lately, I have been an English teacher in a secondary school in Madrid.
While taking master's degree at the University of Leicester, my main interests lied in the field of Language Testing and Assessment, which I chose as a research area for my dissertation under the guidance of Prof Glenn Fulcher. My contact with prof Fulcher would later inspire me to specialise in the field of ESOL exams.
Thus, in the year 2022, I was welcomed on board the panels of examiners for the Trinity exams, a role that I embraced with professionalism and enthusiasm. Meanwhile, I continue both as a freelancer English teacher as well as a secondary school teacher in Madrid. I'm a fluent speaker of English, Spanish, Italian and Swahili as my life revolves around Spain, Italy, the U.K. and Kenya
METHODOLOGY
My preferred teaching methodology is communicative competence with the promotion of independence learning whereby the learner is always the protagonist of their learning process, and the teacher or instructor playing the role of a facilitator.
