Ladies and Gentlemen, ‘Ahh, now that makes sense!’ - this phrase is my personal favourite and reflects why I am passionate about teaching. It gives me great pleasure to help learners gain new insights and make lasting connections to knowledge. I have over five years of teaching experience, specialising in German (both as a foreign and native language). I have also taught English as well as general subjects such as geography, history and biology. My lessons take place both online and face-to-face and are aimed at a wide age range from 9 to 65. My name is Nora Fourie, I am 30 years old and I live in Knysna, South Africa with my husband, son, two dogs and a cat. Born in Germany, I emigrated to South Africa with my parents at the age of two. Here I attended the German International School Cape Town for ten years and graduated from Abbotts College. After leaving school, I returned to Germany to familiarise myself more intensively with the country, language and culture. Over the next eight years, I studied business administration and gained professional experience in the business world. Although I worked in business, I quickly realised that my true passion lay in teaching. Since becoming self-employed, I have worked successfully with several schools, agencies and companies. I help children and adults prepare for language exams (Goethe, TELC, etc.) and Cambridge exams in German (both as a foreign and native language). I also support individuals and families during the immigration process to Germany. Recent developments in my teaching work include supporting carers through language and cultural lessons, helping them to successfully navigate the integration process.
