About me

Hello, my name's Maria Luisa. I live in Padua although I spent most of my life in Rome, but I also studied in New York and Toronto. I'm a friendly person, an animal lover, a voracious reader and a music freak. As I have always been fond of rock songs and lyrics, I've been speaking English ever since I was born, also thanks to my great-grandfather who was from Cleveland. Then, a few years later, between a long study stay in Canada and a shorter one in London, I left for the U.S. to refine my English among the Yankees and eventually got a C2 certificate. At the end of the day, however, learning English to me was mostly a chance to travel, open myself to the world, living new experiences, which is the way I still relate myself to people and the world: curiosity is the word. Besides teaching, I work as a bilingual translator (to and from English), and I'm especially proud of my collaboration with C.O.N.I. I've also worked as a translator for the European cultural quarterly "Lettera Internazionale" and I'm currently collaborating with a few publishers as well as being a proofreader of scientific papers at the Sports Medicine department of Roma2 university.
