name is Luis D. Vásquez. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. After my first year as student at the University of Santo Domingo (UASD) I earned a scholarship to study in the former Soviet Union (Russia). I got my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in technical sciences from both Leningrad Polytechnical Institute and Leningrad State Technical University (Saint Petersburg) 1991. I successfully completed a Brooklyn College preparation teacher program in 1997 and was certified by the State of Florida and Massachusetts as a Mathematics Teacher grades 6-12 in 2002.
I taught Bilingual Mathematics in New York City and Florida Public High Schools from 1994 to 2010. I have been teaching Math and Physics at APEC University and other higher educational institutions in Santo Domingo for the last 10 years. During the covid 19 pandemic, I participated in several workshops like gamification in virtual environments; Moodle tools; CANVAS and Use of the Microsoft Team Platform. I have implemented for developing virtual courses a graphic tablet along with an interactive digital board (white board). It allowed me to conduct instruction with the same fluency as typical presential classes.
