Hello, my name is Dorcus and I am an enthusiastic TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) teacher with a diverse background in both language education and health promotion. I hold a diploma in Health Education and Promotion, which has provided me with valuable insights into understanding how individuals learn and develop, both in terms of language and personal well-being. My experience in health education has instilled in me a strong belief in the importance of holistic learning—where both mental and physical health contribute to successful academic outcomes.
As a TESOL teacher, my primary goal is to create a positive, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment where students feel encouraged and empowered to develop their English language skills. I have worked with students from various cultural backgrounds, and I believe in adapting my teaching methods to suit the diverse needs of each learner. My approach is student-centered, focusing on engaging activities that build confidence and facilitate communication in real-life contexts.
Although I am continuously improving my language proficiency, I have achieved a Band 5.5 on the IELTS exam, which demonstrates my ability to use English in both academic and everyday situations. This score reflects my commitment to improving my language skills and understanding the challenges learners may face in their own language acquisition journeys. As I continue to grow as an educator, I am constantly seeking new ways to enhance my teaching methods and stay informed about the latest trends in language acquisition and health education.
Ultimately, my passion for teaching is driven by a deep commitment to making a difference in my students’ lives. I believe that language learning goes beyond just mastering grammar and vocabulary—it’s about building bridges across cultures and helping students find their voice in a globalized world. With my background in health education, I also recognize the connection between well-being and learning, and I strive to create an environment where students not only thrive academically but also feel supported in their personal growth.
