Hi there! My name is Victoria, I'm from Nigeria. I'm an ESL teacher with three years of experience in helping young learners and teenagers confidently communicate in English. I have instructed, planned lessons and provided relevant feedback on learning development. One of my most effective methods is teaching through play and games; here's a brief description: 🧑🏽‍🏫- I once organised a group activity where students talked about personal interests and activities using English. They had to converse with a friend by describing what activities they liked and disliked and by asking questions to get information. This not only improved their speaking and listening skills but also fostered teamwork and problem-solving. It was a memorable experience as students became more confident using English in real-life situations. 🫂- Incorporating games such as word puzzles and charades has proven effective in building vocabulary. In my last lesson with a teenage student, I began the lesson with a charades game to review vocabulary. My student was not only engaged, but it also encouraged him to create sentences with the words. 🦄- Storytelling is another method I use to engage my students, especially my young learners. Children love to listen to stories and look at colourful characters. I taught a lesson on likes and dislikes to a seven-year-old through a story once. The story included talking animals, fruits, vegetables and ice cream. My young student was fully engaged in the lesson and was encouraged to learn phrases such as "I like" and "I don't like". I love creating a supportive and fun learning environment that encourages my students to practice speaking and listening in English, and I pay attention to their needs. My lessons are interactive, engaging and colourful - your kids will love them, your teens will adore them, and adults will appreciate them 😍.
