Hi, I'm Jenny and I've been teaching my native Mandarin for 15 years. I have taught in multiple schools with children of all ages and adults too, at all skill levels. I like to use lots of different methods to discover how each student learns best, whether it's as simple as flashcards or encouraging research into Chinese culture to better understand the fundamentals. There are a number of different festivals in China and each represents something different and is celebrated differently depending on where in China you are. The biggest festival in China is the Spring Festival, otherwise known as Chinese New Year, and is usually a seven-day holiday. In South China, it's common to go to the flower market to buy peach blossoms to bring good luck for the next year. There will also be red envelopes hanging on top, again for good luck, and they will eat sticky rice (niangao). In North China, they celebrate by hanging calligraphy on red paper for good luck and setting off fireworks, and relatives will come together over dumplings before the New Year. China covers a lot of area and there are 56 ethnic groups living there, each speaking their own dialect. As a native Mandarin speaker, I can teach not only how to read and write but also how to listen and speak with correct pronunciation in a standard accent.

Hello everyone, I'm Angelina Ma, from Yunnan and now living in Shanghai. As a certified senior international Chinese teacher, I firmly believe that language is a bridge across borders. Over 15 years, I’ve shifted from teaching finance to Chinese, and traveled to over 30 countries—I truly love the clashes of different cultures. My classes are never boring: if you like food, we’ll chat about Yunnan rice noodles and Shanghai soup dumplings during grammar practice; if you’re curious about ethnic cultures, stories of the Dai Water-Splashing Festival might help you remember new words. I tailor courses to your goals—be it business communication, daily conversations, or cultural exploration—all turned into lively interactions. Here, mistakes are badges of growth, and every attempt to speak deserves encouragement. I look forward to seeing you go from shy试探 (tentative tries) to confident expression, understanding China through the rhythms of Chinese characters, and feeling the warmth of culture in words. Outside class, I’m always finding new things in life: morning mist over old towns, shouts in markets, the warmth of intangible cultural heritage crafts... These could all be little surprises in our classes. I’d love to wander with you in the world of Chinese, turning every character into a story and every sentence into strength. Looking forward to meeting you, and making Chinese "fun" in countless wonderful ways.
