Hello everyone, I'm Alex, I hail from the UK but am currently based in São Paulo, Brazil, where I teach Business English. I've been teaching English for about 15 years, having previously taught in Chile before I eventually came to Brazil. This experience has provided me with some insight as to the mistakes that are most common when learning English, and also how to address them. Back in the UK, I studied business, which is very useful when working with students from various backgrounds like medical, finance, sales, etc. In my current job teaching business English, this comes in particularly handy. Over the years, I've helped many students prepare for exams such as TOEFL and IELTS, and also assisted some who went on to study at UK universities. My classes cater to learners of all levels, covering different areas of communication. I can help you prepare for a job interview or assist you in improving a presentation that you have to give at work. Verb tenses, prepositions and general conversation can also form part of the class. I very much enjoy teaching and find it very rewarding to be able to help students develop a skill which expands their horizons and affords them more opportunities both in the personal and professional realms. Given that I have learnt Spanish and Portuguese, I have some idea of the great benefit of language acquisition. We can also go through cultural knowledge as well as idioms and slang so you can improve your understanding of English in real-life contexts. Of course, every student is unique, and therefore I will give continuous feedback in order to help you with the specific challenges you face with the language. One thing I've noticed is that some people who've taken English classes before still struggle when trying to converse with native speakers. In order to address this, my classes blend conversation and grammar to help students progress more swiftly. I will help you to build your confidence and to understand the different accents that you may encounter. I also speak Spanish, Portuguese, and a bit of Italian.
