Experienced math teacher with nearly 2 decades of tutoring experience!
My name is Sarah. I am from New York, just outside of New York City. I am a native English speaker, but I can communicate to various degrees in Japanese, Hebrew, and American Sign Language.
I am an experienced tutor and teacher with a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a concentration in Earth Science; as well as a Master’s degree in Geoscience. I have taken formal coursework in education, and have real-world experience. I have been teaching and tutoring STEM subjects and academic writing for almost 20 years.
Specifically my teaching and tutoring experience includes:
* Math (from basic math up through college calculus) including finance and accounting, and statistics
* Sciences, including: Elementary School and Middle School General Science, Physical Science, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Meteorology, Biology, Engineering, Electronics, and even Sports Science, and Medical Sciences
* Computers and Technology, including: Microsoft Excel, Basic Computing, and Java programming
* Academic Writing and Research Paper Writing, and English Vocabulary
* Hebrew Reading, and Bar & Bat Mitzvah Preparation
* Basic ASL (American Sign Language) and Fingerspelling
* Test-Preparation for the GMAT, GRE, GED, ASVAB, PSAT, SAT I & II, ACT, PE, AP, and NYS Regents Exams
Additionally, I have worked with adult learners, returning students, English language learners, and students with special needs. I also have experience working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in ASL, Signed English, and SimCom environments.
I understand that we all have different learning styles and believe that no single approach will work for everyone. As such, I am flexible and adaptable as a tutor. I try to explain things in different ways, rather than just repeating the same thing over again if you do not get it. I try to help you figure-out what works best for you. I look forward to working with you and your individual educational needs!
