About myself:
· Humorous and Chill, Not Rigid or Boring.
· Top school Graduate with Extensive Knowledge and a Wide Social Circle.
· Broad Range of Interests, Including but Not Limited to: Technology & Coding, Theater, Gaming & Anime, and Travel & Long distance Biking🚲.
Hello! I’m from Beijing, China, and I grew up receiving an elite education. I graduated from one of the best high schools in China - Peking University Affiliated High School, and I am currently preparing to apply to universities in the United States. My older brother graduated from UC Berkeley.
I have a lively and outgoing personality, with a great sense of humor. I love communicating with others and am passionate about teaching. I have participated in multiple theater performances and have won several awards at both school and city levels. So, you can expect that I’m not a dull and rigid teacher, but rather a flexible and engaging one—especially if you appreciate theatrical performances! My classes reflect this as well, incorporating **fun and interactive activities** to help you improve your listening and speaking skills.
Beyond theater, I have a wide range of interests, including technology, travel, gaming, and anime. Unlike typical tech enthusiasts who only focus on hardware specs, I also enjoy inventing and innovating. My AI-based facial recognition glasses for the visually impaired won third place in the Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Competition, representing Peking University Affiliate highschool. I also hold a few utility model patent.
I love coding and keeping up with the latest advancements in technology. The official 60th-anniversary website of my high school was a project I led, working with my club members to develop it. I also built the official website for my school's writing center—though only the front-end. Currently, I’m interested in artificial intelligence and have trained and deployed several AI projects myself just for fun.
As for gaming, there’s a lot we can talk about! I enjoy classic console and handheld games, such as The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, and Pokémon. At the same time, I also play modern multiplayer online games with my friends, covering a wide range of genres.
Anime? I’m just as passionate! I love reading Japanese manga and watching anime, whether mainstream or niche. My all-time favorite is Death Note.
Now, at this point, you might think I fit the stereotype of a traditional geek weeb—but you’d be totally wrong! In addition to theater and socializing, I love traveling—both domestically and internationally. I’ve been to Dubai (UAE), Baku (Azerbaijan), Istanbul & Ankara (Turkey), and I’m very familiar with the Middle East, as my father works there. I’ve also traveled to Southeast Asian countries like Thailand.
Moreover, I have biked across China all by myself, from Beijing all the way to Hangzhou, a total of 1500 Kilometers (over 930 miles).
So, I’m not just someone with an outstanding academic background, but also a person with rich experiences and a broad worldview! Trust me, my lessons will never be boring!
About My Teaching experience:
· Engaging and Interactive Teaching – No Rote Memorization.
· Extensive Subject Knowledge
· Fluent in English with a Great TOEFL score
· Born in China but Well-Versed in Other Cultures.
· Deep Understanding of Chinese Culture, Internet Memes, and Local Knowledge.
I have two years of teaching experience—while this may not be long compared to professional teachers, for someone my age, it's quite impressive. I firmly believe that competence matters more than years of experience. And my qualifications are nothing to scoff at—after all, is there anything more prestigious than having taught at “Peking University Affiliated High School” in China?
I was part of my school's "Writing Center", where I tutored younger students in academic writing. This role was highly prestigious because admission was by teacher recommendation, not self-application. Each English Liberal Arts class had only 1-2 students selected by their foreign teachers for the Writing Center, making it an exclusive group of fewer than ten students per grade. Each of us was assigned around ten younger students, who would schedule sessions with us whenever they needed help with assignments or projects. We assisted with PEEL paragraph structures, evaluated the strength of arguments in their writing, and even provided in-class support during lessons.
As an official school organization, the Writing Center was recognized as an academic course, and I ultimately received an A grade. Given that this was an HL-course, I earned an A+ GPA and corresponding academic credits, fully certified by my school.
At the same time, I also worked as a Chemistry Teaching Assistant, where I graded assignments, proctored exams, and tutored students. In one semester, two chemistry teachers even competed to have me as their assistant, Rushing for me to help them.
Beyond traditional academics, I am a performer at heart. I love a fun and dynamic environment, and in my theater classes and school drama festivals, I encouraged shy students to open up and taught them how to act. This even led to coverage in my high school's official media platform. In our school’s drama festival, our house’s play, Sound of Silence, won first place and multiple awards. During my senior year, I co-wrote the script and coached performances for our English play, "Naïve? Ridiculous? Impossible!", which received overwhelming praise.
Although I am Chinese, my frequent international travels and interactions with foreign peers have given me a deep understanding of Western culture. Since childhood, I have watched YouTube extensively and frequently engaged with international friends at school. I am highly familiar with cross-cultural differences and can discuss them in depth.
Through special school programs, I had the opportunity to host and guide foreign exchange students, making friends from Jordan, Syria, and Japan, with whom I still keep in touch today.
So, what do you think? Teachers with such diverse experiences are hard to come by!
Not only will you learn Chinese and explore cultural differences, but you’ll also have the opportunity to connect with a dedicated and knowledgeable teacher. You’ll gain authentic, native-level Chinese skills and truly immerse yourself in Chinese society!
