Hello. I am Jennifer Kamerman.
I am a native English speaking South African, and hold a B.A., L.L.B., L.L.M., (Masters in Environmental Law), from the University of Cape Town. I also have a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (The International TEFL Academy).
During a 35 year career in both business and law, I have gained an extensive range of knowledge, skills and competencies that gives me a significant advantage over other teachers and tutors.
Currently, I run my own environmental law, justice, and advocacy consultancy. In addition, I originate and teach short courses, (online and offline), on environmental law, stakeholder engagement, ESG and sustainable development, for the University of Cape Town’s Law@work professional skills development programme.
As an internationally accredited mediator, I engage with multi-stakeholder groups in finding resolution to environmental disputes. This has given me a deep respect for diversity, as well as superior active and attentive listening abilities, which are critical skills for successful tutoring outcomes.
Another benefit in choosing me as your tutor: Legal research, and the drafting of legal opinion and argument requires me to have advanced writing and reading skills, including editing and proof-reading.
Further, during my 17 years in business management, I have been responsible for mentoring, coaching, training and developing my teams for optimal work performance, and personal growth.
My tutoring and teaching style recognises that learning capabilities and approaches differ. I therefore do not subscribe to a “one-size-fits-all” method. Although my lessons are structured, and support the student’s own learning objectives, the process is highly interactive, with plenty of flexibility, pace and variety to create an enriching and rewarding learning journey.
I have a passion for teaching and education, as well as a life-long love for the English language. Ultimately, my overall goal is to assist others to connect, communicate and flourish in the use of the English language, whether in school, in business, for day-to-day social interactions, or in pursuit of employment opportunities.
