Hello! My name is Matthew, I am an American music teacher currently living in Greece. I teach beginner up to upper intermediate musicians. My method focuses on teaching how to play music by ear. Players of all instruments are welcome to study with me, though I only teach technique for piano and guitar. Under this approach, learning to read music is not required, though a basic understanding of notation can greatly aid building musical comprehension and repertoire. After getting familiar with your instrument, as well as some basics of how music works, we will jump right in by finding some songs to learn in rhythm style. That means chords and rhythm are given top priority, and other details are added later. These may be favorite songs of your choice or of my recommendation, depending on the needs of the student. Along the way, I will introduce proper technique, exercises, listening skills, and musical vocabulary in a natural progression, grounded in your favorite music. Using this method, interested students will also have the opportunity to explore their creativity and learn to compose their own music and recreate the music of others, entirely by ear. For homework I provide a weekly practice routine consisting of exercises, song repertoire, listening and composition challenges. Other topics I cover include how to efficiently read sheet music, harmony and song structure analysis, reharmonization, composing and arranging for multiple instruments, computer-based music production, ABRSM (or other) exam tutoring, and much more. My name is Lorenzo Chiarini, I'm 27 years old, and I am a singing teacher, singer, and Music Author. My main passions are music and working with people. I am a dynamic, flexible, and creative guy. My skills are highlighted by the professional experiences gained over the last 3 and a half years. Since October 2020, I have been teaching singing as a freelancer for various schools and musical associations in the area where I operate (Brescia, Lake Garda, and Mantova). The first organization I have been collaborating with for a longer time is the Musical Association Pastorius in Castel Goffredo (MN). I teach students of all ages and levels, aiming to improve vocal technique through exercises using the piano and performance aspects, as the association organizes seasonal events in live music. In addition to teaching singing at the association, I also teach ensemble music, nurturing the growth of emerging bands from the school in terms of arrangement and live performance. In the field of Vocal Coaching, since March 2024, I have been teaching in Brescia for Centro Professione Voce. In this school, I use a vocal coaching approach that aims to find the ideal sound based on the students' voice and timbre. Another important aspect of my vocal coaching approach is correcting body posture during singing. Since the beginning of the year, I have also collaborated with the 16/24 record project at the Garda Music School in Desenzano del Garda. In this recent collaboration, my role is as a musical author (both in terms of music and lyrics) for emerging artists enrolled in the 16/24 project. In terms of Education, I graduated in contemporary composition in London in 2020 from The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. Thanks to this experience, I gained access to a contemporary approach to the music world, learning academic modules such as Music Production and Music Business. Rachel Hansbro is a native Houstonian who studied Classical and Jazz guitar. She began teaching as an after school job in 1999. She then spent the majority of the early 2000s performing, recording, touring, and playing festivals with her band The Western Civilization. The band released their album “Letters of Resignation” in 2007 and toured the U.S. and Canada. They played a variety of festivals with the Vans Warped Tour, South by Southwest, Halifax Pop Explosion, and Summer Fest. She continues to write and produce music. In her spare time, she volunteers for Girls Rock Camp of Houston as a Coordinator for the camp. Leading up to the camp, she repurposes unwanted and donated musical gear, making them operational for the campers ranging from the ages of 8-18. She also coaches bands, leads songwriting workshops for the students, and is dedicated to providing a safe space for kids to find their voice while collaborating and creating original music.
